The Indie Vegas Film Festival is heading to North Las Vegas this spring, and honestly, it's about time independent cinema got some love in this corner of the valley. Running from April 30th through May 3rd, the festival is setting up shop at Aliante Casino & Hotel, specifically using the Stadium 16 & IMAX theater complex for screenings across two screens.

This marks the festival's third year, and Festival Director Jon Gursha seems genuinely excited about the venue choice. “The cinema complex at the Aliante Casino & Hotel is an excellent entertainment destination for everyone and it has a great atmosphere,” Gursha explained. As someone who‘s spent countless hours in Vegas movie theaters, I can appreciate when a festival finds a space that actually enhances the viewing experience rather than just cramming films into whatever’s available.

Unlike the massive blockbuster showcases we're used to seeing, the Indie Vegas Film Festival is all about giving independent filmmakers from Nevada and around the world a proper platform. Festival Programmer Peter Greene noted their excitement about this year‘s location, and the programming approach sounds refreshingly inclusive - they’re accepting submissions through Film Freeway and welcoming all genres.
