Get Your Science On This Spring
Las Vegas is about to get a major dose of STEM excitement with the Las Vegas Science & Technology Festival taking over the valley from April 24 to May 2, 2026. The Las Vegas Science & Natural History Museum is partnering with Clark County School District to bring this completely free weeklong celebration to locations across Southern Nevada, and honestly, it‘s exactly what our community needs.
What I love about this festival is how it makes science accessible to everyone. We’re talking hands-on activities, interactive experiences, and real career opportunities – not just dusty textbook stuff. Whether you‘re dragging reluctant teenagers or entertaining curious grandparents, there’s something here for every age group. Plus, did I mention it's completely free? In a town where entertainment can get pricey fast, that's a beautiful thing.

The Grand Finale at World Market Center
The whole week builds up to the Giant Science & Technology Expo on May 2 at the EXPO at World Market Center. This marks the 15th year for this massive celebration, and they're pulling out all the stops. Picture a massive exhibition hall packed with hands-on science exhibits, live demonstrations, and cutting-edge technology displays.
The timing couldn't be better – 10 AM to 5 PM gives families plenty of flexibility to work around nap schedules and other weekend plans. And here's the kicker: free admission and free parking. If you‘ve ever tried to park at World Market Center for other events, you know that’s no small gift. The venue at 435 S Grand Central Parkway is easy to reach from anywhere in the valley.
Why This Matters for Vegas Families
What makes this festival special is how it showcases the incredible STEM opportunities that already exist right here in our community. Too often, we think of Las Vegas as just hospitality and gaming, but there's a thriving tech and science scene here that deserves recognition. Your kids can actually meet local scientists, engineers, and STEM professionals – real people doing fascinating work in their own backyard.
The festival also gives families a chance to explore different areas of science without the pressure of formal education settings. Sometimes kids (and adults) discover passions they never knew they had when they can touch, experiment, and play with scientific concepts. Check out the festival website to see what specific events and locations work best for your family's schedule.
Making the Most of Science Week
Here‘s my practical advice: don’t try to hit everything in one day. With events scattered across the valley throughout the week, you can pace yourselves and really dive deep into the areas that spark the most interest. The variety means you might find yourselves at a school in Henderson one day and downtown the next – perfect excuse to explore different neighborhoods.
For families with multiple kids of different ages, this festival is a godsend. While your teenager might gravitate toward the technology displays, younger kids can get their hands dirty with basic science experiments. Everyone wins, and nobody feels left out or overwhelmed.
