Sometimes in life you just gotta splurge and don’t look back.  Thank you Sweet Honey Dessert in Chinatown Vegas for providing sweet pleasure in the form of their “Coconut Soufflé Pancake.” It’s a divine dessert consisting of “house made coconut sauce and served with crushed peanut and sesame,” accompanied by an upside-down coconut ice cream cone for added kicks. I enjoyed this antidote to grim world news on a warm Vegas night, outside on the second floor of always lively Shanghai Plaza where folks come from miles around.

Robby Krieger of the Doors took everyone to guitar heaven with his band The Soul Savages at the sold-out Copa Room inside Tuscany Suites. Robby (who has no use for a guitar pick) wowed the crowd with his magic fingers and signature trebly tones on, among other songs, the Doors’ “Back Door Man” and the Savages’ “Contrary Motion” from their musically expansive 2024 debut album. The Los Angeles-based band will return to the intimate venue on June 12.

I have a thing for the magnificent hotel chandeliers of Las Vegas—not to mention the lighting fixtures all over town. Witness the enchanting new “cherry blossom tree” installation at the modern Italian restaurant Limoncello on W Sahara Ave. I’ve been happily dining here for the past five years, and the tree brings a beautiful warm and romantic feeling to this elegant space.
